Answers to the most common questions about MapleTriage, privacy, Canadian hosting, and how to get involved.

What is MapleTriage?

MapleTriage is a Canadian-built, privacy-first AI medical triage and documentation platform. It helps healthcare teams capture a patient's symptoms quickly, organize the information clearly, and guide patients toward the appropriate level of care. It is an early-stage product in active development by Joel & Nanz Inc. of Moncton, New Brunswick.

Is MapleTriage a replacement for a doctor or nurse?

No. MapleTriage is a triage and documentation support tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace a licensed healthcare provider. Clinical decisions should always be made by a qualified clinician, and patients should always consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns.

How does MapleTriage protect patient privacy?

Privacy is a first principle of MapleTriage. The platform is designed so that sensitive patient information stays encrypted and protected throughout — including while it is being processed. We build to align with PIPEDA and Canadian health-privacy expectations, and we do not sell patient data.

Is MapleTriage PIPEDA compliant?

MapleTriage is being built to align with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial health-privacy rules. Because the product is still in development, our compliance posture is reviewed continuously as features are built and before any production deployment.

Where is MapleTriage data stored and processed?

MapleTriage runs on Canadian infrastructure. Patient audio and transcripts are processed and stored within Canada and are not sent to other countries. Canadian data sovereignty is a core design requirement, not an add-on.

Is MapleTriage available to use right now?

Not yet for the general public. MapleTriage is an early-stage product in active development. We are working with select Canadian healthcare partners and preparing for broader availability. You can contact us to join the waitlist or discuss early access.

Who is MapleTriage for?

MapleTriage is built for Canadian healthcare providers: clinics and primary-care practices, nurse triage and after-hours lines, and healthcare organizations that need accurate documentation with Canadian data residency. Research and innovation partners interested in safe, made-in-Canada clinical AI are also welcome to reach out.

How accurate is MapleTriage with medical terminology?

MapleTriage is being tuned specifically for clinical language so that medical terminology is captured accurately in documentation. Improving accuracy on medical vocabulary is an ongoing focus of our development work.

Does MapleTriage use my data to train models without consent?

No. We do not sell patient data, and we design MapleTriage so that patient information is used to deliver the service, not exploited. Any data handling is governed by Canadian privacy law and clear agreements with our partners.

Is MapleTriage Canadian-made?

Yes. MapleTriage is designed, built, and supported in Canada by Joel & Nanz Inc., based in Moncton, New Brunswick. Canadian Made, Canadian Kept, Canadian Driven is core to the product.

Is MapleTriage funded or grant-backed?

MapleTriage is pursuing innovation funding through Canada's National Research Council Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC IRAP), with technical-readiness documentation and a structured evaluation process underway. The platform continues to be developed independently as part of the Maple suite of products.
